Summer Technology Institute
Students at your school are using Facebook and maybe even your own children are, but you have never logged on to this website, and can’t imagine why you would ever need to. Think again! Prevent someone from stealing your personal, school, or class identity. Find out what kids are doing when they spend hours on
Facebook, learn the lingo (Posting, Wall, Poke, Newsfeed, Profile, Applications, etc.), and realize why educators and other adults need to keep an eye on the Face-book activities of our students and child-ren. You will create a Facebook page with privacy settings tailored to your own unique specifications. You will learn the important difference between Pages and Groups and why all schools need to know about these Facebook features that are growing in popularity amongst youth. In this hands-on class you will explore Face-book and its issues. Facebook isn’t going away. Learn to take charge in compelling social network “situations” at your school.
